Apple CEO Tim Cook has shared on Twitter that there is going to be an #AppleLaunch on February 19.

Going off of existing rumours, it seems Apple is planning to release a new version of the entry-level iPhone SE on the 19th. However, Cook mentioning that this device will be the “newest member of the family” does open the door for speculation regarding what we might see.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has championed the leak of the new SE, also agrees that this tweet refers to Apple’s upcoming low-end handset. But because of the wording, Gurman is wondering on Twitter if the SE line will receive a rebrand.
Other leaks suggest the rumoured iPhone Air won’t come out until the fall iPhone event, but Cook’s wording has shaken things up. While the iPhone SE is supposed to get a major refresh to be in line with the iPhone 14, Apple already has an iPhone SE listed on its website, so it would be a stretch to call a refresh of that line a new member of the family.
Apple is rumoured to be updating the iPhone and Apple Watch SE models this year, so perhaps it’s time to drop the ‘Special Edition’ SE branding from its lowest-end hardware. Personally, I think calling the new iPhone SE the iPhone Air would make more sense in Apple’s product hierarchy. However, I’m not expecting Apple to go that way next week, so maybe we’ll see some new product branding.
