Amazon’s Ring camera lineup is expanding with a new Outdoor Camera Plus, available for pre-order starting February 20th.
The e-commerce giant’s latest camera boasts 2K video resolution, a wide field of view and “Low-Light Sight” technology, which leverages advanced image processing to offer clear video even in near-dark conditions. Amazon says the camera can work well with just illumination from a street light or other ambient light sources.
The Outdoor Camera Plus uses Amazon’s Ring Vision to offer better video quality. Ring Vision combines both the camera hardware — such as a high-quality lens and image sensor — with software like Dynamic Image processing and efficient compression to offer better-looking video through both live and recorded video.
Despite the name, the Outdoor Camera Plus can work inside and out thanks to a weather-resistant build and easy-to-install mount. Amazon says the mount works on walls and ceilings, and the camera has multiple power options, like battery, plug-in and solar.
Naturally, there are optional subscriptions to go along with the camera. Ring has Basic, Standard and Premium subscriptions, each with different features. Ring has a support document breaking down the features of each plan.
Without a subscription, Outdoor Camera Plus users can access real-time alerts, a live-view and two-way talk features. The Basic plan enables features like notification alerts for people, packages and vehicles, along with up to 180 days of event video history. The Standard plan builds on that with features like daily event summaries and doorbell calls, while the Premium plan adds 24/7 recording and more.
The Outdoor Camera Plus is now available for pre-order on Amazon Canada for $139.99 and comes in black or white. Amazon says the device will start shipping on March 26th, though the store page for the camera says free delivery starting April 4th.
