Telus-owned mobile service provider Koodo has discounted its $44/60GB plan as part of a new promotion.
The 60GB plan now costs $5/mo less than before, bringing the price down to $39 (including a $5/mo autopay discount). Previously, the plan cost $44/mo ($49 without autopay). Notably, this change is only for the bring-your-own-phone (BYOP) plan, with the provider still charging $49/mo (with autopay discount) for a 60GB plan for customers who want to buy a phone.
Koodo also appears to have removed its $39/20GB 4G plan. It still offers a $54/80GB plan.
Aside from the price, Koodo hasn’t changed anything else with the 60GB plan. That means the plan still includes data at 4G speeds (Koodo caps this at 100Mbps). Customers with 5G phones may still connect to the 5G network, but speeds will remain limited to 100Mbps.

Koodo’s 60GB plan also includes unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting, plus customers can pick one free perk from a limited pool that varies from plan to plan. Perks include premium voicemail, unlimited international texting (sent from Canada), data rollover and more.
Finally, Koodo is still offering a discounted Stream+ bundle with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. The bundle usually costs $20/mo for the ‘Basic’ tier, which includes ad-supported Netflix and Disney+, or $38/mo for the ‘Premium’ tier with premium Netflix and Disney+. However, Koodo customers can get a $5/mo discount on the Stream+ bundle.
It’s not entirely clear why Koodo lowered the price of its 60GB plan. The carrier’s closest competitors, Bell’s Virgin Plus and Rogers’ Fido, both still had $39/20GB and $45/60GB plans at the time of writing.
Perhaps this is Koodo’s response to Freedom Mobile and fellow Telus brand Public Mobile. Freedom launched a $39/60GB 5G plan with included Canada/U.S./Mexico roaming earlier this year, and Public just lowered its $39/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico to $35/mo. If this is Koodo’s attempt to compete with Freedom and Public, I’d argue it’s not a great one — why pay $39 for 60GB of 4G data when you can pay the same amount (or less!) to get 5G data and bundled roaming in North America?
