Normally, that latter sentence would be a disappointing statement, but it should be noted that the official Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is happening exactly one week from now on Wednesday, April 2. Therefore, it’s a bit surprising that Nintendo is holding another Direct so close to that date.
That said, there are certainly some benefits to putting on this additional Direct. For one, it helps the company fill out the calendar year for the current-gen Switch, given that we don’t know much about what’s coming to it this year besides Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. On top of that, the Switch 2 is confirmed to play almost all Switch games, so whatever Nintendo shows during this week’s Direct will most likely also be playable on the upcoming hardware. Last week, people even discovered a hidden 60fps mode in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, which could point to Switch 2 enhancements for games like this down the line.
As always, the Nintendo Direct will be streamed via Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
