GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen is, as the kids say, “going through it.”
Last week, the Montreal-born executive took to X (Twitter) to lament U.S. President Donald Trump’s sweeping worldwide tariffs. “These tariffs are turning me into a dem,” he posted with a pride flag emoji.

In subsequent posts, Cohen said he “can’t wait” to get “a $10,000 made in the USA iPhone” and how CNBC’s Mad Money host Jim Cramer will “save” the stock market by predicting “Black Monday 2025.”
It’s a particularly amusing turn of events for Cohen, who has spent his less-than-two-year tenure as GameStop CEO being an edgelord. In particular, he’s made many posts supporting Trump, including one baselessly claiming he won the 2020 election.
More recently, Cohen also played into the usual tired Trump playbook and blamed “wokeness and DEI” for GameStop’s decision to sell off its Canadian and French divisions.
Now, he’s bemoaning the same tariffs from the man he’s been so embarrassingly been kissing up to online. It remains to be seen what he’ll blame for this if not “wokeness and DEI,” but he assuredly won’t take any blame for GameStop having recently closed 1,000 stores worldwide, or 25 percent of its total storefronts.
