Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones has been surprise-dropped into the Nintendo Switch Online catalogue.
Originally released in North America on the Game Boy Advance in May 2005, The Sacred Stones is the eighth mainline entry in developer Intelligent Systems’ popular Fire Emblem tactical RPG series. Notably, it was the second-ever Fire Emblem to launch outside of Japan and the first to introduce the series’ staple “permadeath” feature. It garnered significant acclaim for that gameplay tweak, and others, as well as its well-written narrative.
The Sacred Stones landing on Switch Online also coincides with Nintendo’s 35th anniversary Fire Emblem celebrations. As part of that, the soundtrack from the last Fire Emblem game, 2023’s Engage, was just added to the Nintendo Music mobile app. It’s also worth noting that Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is coming to Switch Online on Switch 2 as part of the addition of GameCube games on the upcoming console.
Like other Game Boy Advance games, The Sacred Stones is included with a $63.99/year Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. This also includes NES, SNES, Game Boy, N64 and Sega Genesis titles, among other perks.
In other Nintendo news, the company recently confirmed that Canadian pre-orders for the Switch 2 will go live on April 24. Official Canadian pricing for games and accessories, including the $110 Mario Kart World, has also been revealed.
