Ahead of Microsoft Build, the U.S. tech giant has launched two new laptops, the Surface Laptop (13-inch) and the Surface Pro (12-inch), both designed for performance and portability.
Microsoft says the Surface Laptop 13-inch is the thinnest and lightest Surface Laptop ever, crafted for portability, performance, and AI. It launches on May 20 and costs US$899 (roughly C$1237). It is available in Ocean, Violet, and Platinum colour options.
The Surface Laptop, which includes a 45 TOPS NPU, is powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor, which is reportedly faster than the Surface Laptop 5 and the MacBook Air M3. The device offers a 13-inch full HD display with thin bezels, an AI-enhanced camera with Auto Video HDR and AI noise reduction, a keyboard designed for productivity, a built-in fingerprint reader, and more.
Next is the Surface Pro 12-inch, which will also be available on May 20 and start at US$799 (roughly CA$1099). The Surface Pro offers a 2-in-1 form factor, providing the functionality of a laptop and the portability of a tablet. It offers a built-in adjustable kickstand and detachable keyboard, as well as the Surface Slim Pen, which magnetically attaches to the back of the tablet. This tablet is also available in Slate, Ocean, and Violet.
With both the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro coming with the Snapdragon X Plus processor and offering 45 TOPS NPU, it Copilot+PC certified. This includes features like Recall, which can retrace your steps to securely find and get back to an app website or document. The Settings menu also has new features, such as Click to Do and more.
