Nintendo has started to send out invites to pre-order the Switch 2 in Canada.
As spotted by Canadian video game deals aggregator Lbabinz, the first wave of invites are now going out, on May 8 as Nintendo had promised, to those who registered their interest for pre-orders through Nintendo’s website.
Per Nintendo, these invites are “prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis to registrants who have purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership with a minimum of 12 months of paid membership and a minimum of 50 total gameplay hours, as of April 2, 2025.”
If you fell into that category, you’ll want to check your email for a message from Nintendo. Through that, you’ll be able to pre-order either the standard $629 Switch 2 or the $699 console bundle that includes Mario Kart World (which costs $110 on its own).
It’s worth mentioning that at the time of writing, some people have replied to Lbabinz on social media to say they haven’t yet gotten an email. Therefore, you’ll want to check your email throughout the day to see if it comes through.
It should also be noted that Nintendo has warned customers that shipments may not make it on time for the June 5 launch of the Switch 2. That said, it promises to confirm your shipment date upon purchase, so those who are in this first wave of pre-orders will hopefully be okay.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders opened at other retailers on April 24 and quickly sold out. It remains to be seen when they may replenish stock.
