The Canadian Game Awards are officially coming back.
The next ceremony will take place on February 21, 2026 at the TIFF Lightbox in Toronto, the same venue where this year’s show was held. Balatro from Saskatchewan’s Localthunk and Dragon Age: The Veilguard from BioWare Edmonton were two of the big winners at the February show, with the former ultimately taking home Game of the Year. This year’s show also held the ‘Eh! Expo,’ a free exhibition of indie games for the public to try out.

It remains to be seen what else might be in store for the CGAs in 2026, but creator Carl-Edwin Michel told MobileSyrup about his broader goals to expand the show in a January interview.
For now, we know at least some of the 2025 Canadian games that could be up for awards. This includes Ubisoft Quebec’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Montreal-based Compulsion’s South of Midnight and Quebec City-based Yellow Brick Games’ Eternal Strands. Other Canadian games set to release later this year include Rooster (Toronto’s Sticky Brain), Battle Vision Network (Toronto’s Capybara) and Button Man (Halifax’s Styrax).
Overall, Canadian games make up a $5.1 billion industry, so there’s a lot to celebrate. What are your favourite Canadian games of the year so far? Let us know in the comments.
