Koodo is texting some customers a special offer discounting its home internet plans by an additional $5/mo.
The Telus-owned provider typically offers a discounted rate on internet plans for existing customers, but this special offer increases the discount for 24 months.
“Koodo Exclusive: Save more as a Koodo customer. Get fast, reliable home internet for only $39/mo. for 24 months and $44/mo. after. (reg price: $70/mo.) with DIY set-up and unlimited data. Use exclusive promo code KISPECIAL5 at checkout,” reads the text message.
Currently, Koodo’s starter 100Mbps internet plan costs $65/mo ($70 with a $5 discount). Existing Koodo customers can get it for $44/mo, or $39/mo for 24 months with the text deal (the plan goes back to $44/mo after two years).
However, despite the wording of the message, in my testing, I was able to apply the promo code and get the additional $5 discount on Koodo’s other internet plans. For example, the 500Mbps plan went from $74 to $69 after adding the promo code (regular $100/mo). It’s worth noting that Koodo’s plan speeds vary depending on where you are (e.g. Koodo’s 1Gbps plan wasn’t available for me in Hamilton, Ont.).
A $5/mo discount might not sound like a lot, but it adds up to $120 over two years. And personally, I’d rather pay less for my internet, even if it’s just $5 less. So if you’re a Koodo customer, it’s worth checking to see what internet plans are available to you and signing up with the $5/mo discount promo code.
