Freedom Mobile has reduced the discount it applies to bring-your-own-phone (BYOP) plans, effectively raising plan prices by $1/mo across the board.
The wireless provider has offered a BYOP discount on and off for months. Typically, the discount was $4/mo, but as of June 12, that discount is now $3/mo. It’s still an ongoing credit as long as customers are on an eligible plan.
Oddly, the fine print for the offer on Freedom’s website still mentions the $4 value, while the plans themselves show the new $3 credit value and associated pricing. (Update June 13, 2025 at 9:20a.m. ET: Freedom has now updated the fine print to say $3, confirming the change wasn’t a mistake.)
The plans with the BYOP discount are as follows:
- $36/60GB Can/U.S./Mex
- $46/80GB Can/U.S./Mex
- $56/100GB Can/U.S./Mex
- $66/150GB Can/U.S./Mex
Freedom’s other plans do not have a BYOP discount applied.

While overall a small change, it’s still frustrating to see prices slowly creep up. Freedom’s prices are still ahead of most other Canadian providers, which is good, but these little increases add up over time.
You can check out Freedom’s slightly more expensive plans on its website.
