I’ve long theorized that Tesla has a top-secret group of people who take care of things and work to keep Musk from meddling with the company’s daily operations. Musk continued to reinforce that idea when he ruined Twitter and was ousted from the White House more recently.
After so much bad publicity, I have no idea why anyone would want Musk to helm their company, but for some reason, major pension fund leaders are demanding that Tesla’s board make Musk work 40 hours per week at the automotive company.
In a letter, the investors attribute a lot of Tesla’s problems to Musk’s involvement with the U.S. government. However, they also asked for a clear succession plan, suggesting that they also realize Musk might not be the best person for the job anymore.
There has also been a slowdown in EV sales in Canada and the U.S. in general, but that could be attributed to the trade war driving up prices for all cars, and in Canada, the loss of our federal EV incentive.
In other Tesla news, the company is getting close to launching its Robotaxi service after roughly seven years of promises from the CEO. However, the launch is significantly scaled back from his many promises over the years. Instead of regular Tesla cars becoming robotic taxis, a small fleet of vehicles with specialized hardware will help them self-drive. In reality, this appears to be more of a real-world testing facility than a launch.
In Canada, we are still awaiting a resolution regarding the investigation into the car dealer over how much of the federal incentive it took in the final days. GM has also overtaken Tesla as the top EV retailer in Canada.
