Pricing for Microsoft and Asus’ ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X PC gaming handhelds has reportedly been leaked.
As first reported by 3DJuegos and spotted by Insider Gaming, Google Search metadata from Asus’ own website states the following prices:
- Xbox Ally — €599 (about C$957)
- Xbox Ally X — €899 (about C$1,437)
Notably, the devices are priced similarly to their normal ROG Ally counterparts. The regular Ally costs between €500 and €700, depending on the chip variant, while the Ally X costs $900. In Canada, the standard Ally is around $650, depending on the model, while the Ally X is $1,100. For context, Asus’ biggest PC gaming handheld rival, the Steam Deck, costs $499 (256GB), $689 (512GB OLED) and $819 (1TB OLED).
By and large, the Xbox Ally and Ally X are similar to the standard Ally and Ally X beyond their naming scheme. The major difference is that the former devices sport direct Xbox integration, including the signature X, B, A and Y and Xbox buttons and built-in Xbox app functionality. Specs-wise, the entry-level white ROG Xbox Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2A processor, 16GB of memory, 512GB of storage, and a 7-inch 720p screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Meanwhile, the more powerful black ROG Xbox Ally X, meanwhile, sports an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of memory, 1TB of storage, and a 7-inch 1,080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Direct conversions of the leaked pricing indicates that Canadians would be paying around $300 more for the Xbox ROG Ally devices. However, it’s unlikely that Microsoft and Asus would actually charge that much more for these Xbox-branded handhelds in Canada, given past European Euro to Canadian dollar conversions. (That said, it wouldn’t be the first time that Canadians have to pay an even bigger premium.) Of course, the constant uncertainty surrounding the U.S. tariff situation also means that Microsoft and Asus could very well change pricing plans anyway.
Last month, I briefly tried out the Xbox Ally X and came away very impressed. Of course, pricing is a key factor, though, so we’ll have to wait and see what this officially costs.
