The Naked Gun trilogy contains some of the most beloved comedies in all of film.
Hailing from the filmmaking trio of Jim Abrahams and brothers David and Jerry Zucker (“ZAZ”) and starring the late, great Canadian Leslie Nielsen, The Naked Gun movies are crime spoof and slapstick gold.
They’re also getting a resurgence thanks to The Naked Gun (2025), a reboot from co-writer and director and The Lonely Island co-founder Akiva Shaffer (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping). Liam Neeson stars in the new film, which hits theatres on August 1, as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen’s character. (For what it’s worth, I got to attend an early screening and, like many others, I absolutely loved the new film. Easily one of the funniest comedies I’ve seen in a while and I can’t recommend enough that you see it in theatres. And no, this is not a Paramount ad — it’s just a really good movie!)
But naturally, a reboot often encourages you to revisit the originals or even experience them for the first time, which is what I also did ahead of the 2025 film. (I also loved those.) With that in mind, here’s where you can stream the original Naked Gun movies in Canada:
- The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) — Netflix, Paramount+, Super Channel
- The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) — Netflix, Paramount+, Super Channel
- Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994) — Netflix, Paramount+, Super Channel
It should be noted that the short-lived cult classic Nielsen-led Police Squad series, which spawned The Naked Gun, unfortunately, isn’t available for streaming anywhere.
