When Apple launched the iPhone 16 last year, they promised a new AI-powered version of Siri would be a lot more personalized, in part due to Apple Intelligence. Now, over a year later, Apple has had to delay the improvements, and Google is not letting anyone forget in a new Pixel 10 commercial.
In the ad, Google uses a narrator to poke fun at people who bought an iPhone for the promised improved Siri experience and are still waiting for it. The narrator wraps up by suggesting people consider getting a different phone as the drop from Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre’s song The Next EpisodeĀ plays in the background. Nice.
The 30-second ad, titled ‘Soon,’ launched on YouTube and X/Twitter today, teasing Google’s new flagship phones coming August 20. This isn’t the first time the Pixel 10 has been shown to the general public, as leaks showed off all four upcoming models, alongside an official reveal from Google itself.
This ad comes just asĀ Bloomberg’sĀ Mark Gurman revealed more information on the AI delays from Apple. According toĀ The Verge,Ā Apple’s SVP of Software Craig Federighi revealed in a recent all-hands meeting that the delay was blamed on the California-based tech giant using a hybrid architecture for Siri. The company is now reportedly working on a new version of its virtual assistant with an updated architecture.
