Netflix announced the start of production for its new untitled project set in Newfoundland.
This announcement also includes the reveal of new cast members Kaleb Horn (Dream Scenario), Ruby Stokes (Till the Stars Come Down), and Willow Kean (The Kingtide), who will star alongside the series’ star, Josh Hartnett (Oppenheimer), as well as Rohan Campbell (The Hardy Boys), Mackenzie Davis (Black Mirror), and Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things).
The project’s showrunner is Jesse McKeown, known for his work with The Umbrella Academy and 19-2. The six-episode series will take place in a remote Newfoundland town terrorized by a mysterious sea creature, and the audience will follow the protagonist, played by Josh Hartnett, a hardened fisherman, as he fights to protect his family, community, and way of life against the looming threat.
The series is written by Karen Walton (Orphan Black), Perry Chafe (Son of a Critch), and Natty Zavitz (Edging). Episode direction will go to Jamie Childs (The Sandman), Helen Shaver (The Penguin), and Stephan Dunn (Little America).
Netflix hasn’t yet shared a release date for the show.
