Google is rolling out a fix to the prominent issue of unresponsive buttons and gestures on Pixel phones with its software update this August.
After Google released Android 16 in June, many Google Pixel owners started reporting issues with unresponsive phone gestures and buttons. Many statements claimed “complete unresponsiveness” of buttons or long delays to register taps of “over 30 seconds.” Some users had to repeatedly press the back button before the device would register it.
In Google’s announcement for the August Pixel software update, the company addressed these prominent issues with a “fix for issues with 3-button navigation and gesture navigation in certain conditions.”
Alongside this fix to the longstanding unresponsiveness issue, Google fixed another prominent issue with the scheduled dark theme feature, where it wouldn’t work correctly, which forced users to toggle dark mode manually.
The update with these fixes will be available to all devices running Android 16, from the Pixel 6 and up, and will roll out in phases throughout the coming week.
