Streaming in Canada on Apple TV+, Crave, Disney+, Netflix, Paramount+ and Prime Video [Sept. 1-7]

Quite a lot of new streaming titles this week, including Spike Lee's Highest 2 Lowest, Wednesday (Season 2 -- Part 2) and HBO's Task

Wondering what to watch on streaming?

Every week, MobileSyrup outlines some of the most notable new movies and TV shows. Apple TV+

A music industry titan is targeted with a ransom plot, presenting him with a life-or-death moral dilemma.

Based on Akira Kurosawa’s High and LowHighest 2 Lowest was reunites Malcom X director Spike Lee and star Denzel Washington for their fifth collaboration, while Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction), Ilfenesh Hadera (Godfather of Harlem) and rapper A$AP Rocky (“1 Train”).

Following a recent price increase, an Apple TV+ membership costs $14.99/month and is also included in Apple One subscription bundles, which start at $22.95/month.


Crave

Task

Crave premiere date: Sunday, September 7 at 9 p.m. ET (first episode, new episodes every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET)
Genre: Crime drama miniseries
Runtime: Seven episodes (around one hour each)

In the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent and his task force investigate a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man.

Task was created by Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown) and stars Mark Ruffalo (I Know This Much is True), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King) and Emilia Jones (CODA).

Lilo & Stitch (2025)

A fugitive alien crash lands on Earth and is adopted by a Hawaiian family.

Based on 2002 Disney movie of the same name, Lilo & Stitch was directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp and stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong (NCIS), Maia Kealoha (debut role), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover trilogy), Billy Magnussen (Aladdin), Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story) and Chris Sanders reprising his role as the voice of Stitch.

No longer a newbie, Haru and her partner Psyduck welcome many new Pokémon to the resort.

Pokémon Concierge was animated by dwarf studios (Mr. Osomatsu) and features the English voice cast of Karen Fukuhara (The Boys), Imani Hakim (Mythic Quest), Josh Keaton (The Spectacular Spider-Man) and Lori Alan (SpongeBob SquarePants).

Wednesday (Season 2 — Part 2) [Netflix Original]

The mystery at Nevermore continues to unravel.

Based on The Addams Family, Wednesday was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville) and stars Jenna Ortega (Jane the Virgin), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago), Luiz Guzmán (Boogie Nights) and Isaac Ordonez (A Wrinkle in Time).

NCIS: Tony & Ziva [Paramount+ Original]

When Tony’s security firm is attacked, he and Ziva must go on the run with their child.

A spin-off of the flagship NCIS series, NCIS: Tony & Ziva was created by John McNamara (The Magicians) and features Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo reprising their NCIS roles of Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, while Isla Gie (The Outlaws) plays their daughter.

Quinn and her father move to a small-town for a fresh start, only for tensions to boil over and a killer clown arriving to cleanse the town of its burdens.

Based on Adam Cesare’s 2020 novel of the same name, Clown in a Cornfield was directed by Eli Craig (Tucker & Dale vs. Evil) and stars Burlington, Ont.’s Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia), Toronto’s Aaron Abrams (Children Ruin Everything), Oakville, Ont.’s Carson MacCormac (Shazam!), Thunder Bay, Ont.’s Kevin Durand (Lost) and Ladner, B.C.’s Will Sasso (Loudermilk).

Beyond the Canadian cast, it’s worth noting that the film was shot in Winnipeg.

The Runarounds [Amazon Original]

A disparate group of high school grads form a rock band in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The Runarounds was created by Jonas Pate (Outer Banks) and stars William Lipton (General Hospital), Axel Ellis (debut role), Jeremy Yun (debut role), Zendé Murdock (The Voice Kids), Jesse Golliher (debut role) and Brooklyn Decker (Grace & Frankie).
