Google has released the September 2025 security update for Pixel devices, which fixes numerous bugs.
Over the next few weeks, all supported Pixel devices (Pixel 6 and up running Android 16) will get the latest patches. One thing to note with the new update is that it differs from the latest Pixel Drop, which also brought a lot of new features to Pixel devices.
As Android Authority points out, this update will only be available to devices running Android 16, and if you haven’t updated to the latest OS yet, it is highly recommended.
Fixes included in the update
- Most of the latest Pixel update generally revolves around crashing. They fixed a Java crash problem within the System UI centred around the Quick Tap feature, and an issue which can sometimes cause the Pixel Launcher to crash in certain conditions.
- Google also addressed a lot of freezing and slowdowns, especially in terms of UI. One of the issues was that devices became unresponsive to touch across multiple screens or apps, and the home button did not respond reliably. Additionally, there was another issue where users were unable to type, and the keyboard stopped responding in certain conditions.
Another issue Google resolved is the power button failing to function in certain instances, particularly when connected to Android Auto via USB-C.
Google once again addressed issues relating to the battery and battery health, with this specific fix being related to the battery health display.
