We’ve known for a while now that famed director Steven Spielberg loves Call of Duty and he plays it on PC, but what’s recently been unearthed was that the director pitched a COD movie to Activision but the company said no.
According to the Hollywood blog Puck News Spielberg pitched a version of a Call of Duty film to the video game publisher that owns the franchise, Activision, but it was to afraid to give him full creative control so the movie was never made.
The report says that even Universal was behind Spielberg, but Activision wanted to retain some control and so it decided to go with a different pitch from Paramount. However, at Paramount there is no director currently attached to the unnamed movie.
All we know is that the Paramount CEO David Ellison has said earlier this year, “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve.”
