Nintendo has announced that its next Direct stream will air on Friday, September 12 at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT.
The presentation was first announced in the Nintendo Today! mobile app. On social media, Nintendo provided further details, noting that the Direct will be roughly 60 minutes long and feature both Switch 2 and Switch games. You can tune in via Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

Nintendo has historically held Direct presentations in September, and they tend to be particularly big in terms of game reveals as they fill out the rest of the calendar year and tease what’s to come in the next. This one being a full hour is unusual, though, given that they’re generally around 40 minutes. Clearly, then, Nintendo has a lot in store.
Above all else, it’s safe to assume we’ll get another look at the highly-anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which still doesn’t have a release window beyond “2025.” Other confirmed 2025 Switch 2 exclusives without specific release dates are Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Splatoon Raiders, spin-offs of Breath of the Wild and Splatoon, respectively.
It should also be noted that Directs aren’t generally on Fridays. This could be to better coincide with Saturday, September 13, which happens to be the 40th anniversary of Mario. Given that, it’s safe to assume some sort of announcements related to the plumber, be it remasters, spin-offs, a new 3D game (given that the last one was 2017’s Odyssey) or even news on the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel.
