A new documentary on the Montreal Expos will premiere on Netflix on October 21.
Appropriately titled Who Killed the Montreal Expos?, the film will examine what led to the end of the iconic Montreal baseball team in 2004 when it was relocated to Washington, D.C. and renamed the Washington Nationals.
Directed by Quebec’s Jean-François Poisson, the documentary will feature interviews with the likes of Hall of Famers, team manager Felipe Alou, journalist Tom Verducci and fans who lived through the shocking events. It will also feature rare archival footage of the team.
Naturally, there’s a lot of interest and history behind the Expos, given that they were founded in 1969 as the first MLB team outside of the U.S. The major league’s sole Canadian team, the Toronto Blue Jays, were founded in 1977.
