During the recent Nintendo Direct, the gaming giant announced the sequel to the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Nintendo and Illumination are working together to launch The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, coming to theatres in April 2026.
Illumination confirmed that Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson will return and reprise their voice roles as Mario, Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Toad and Kamek, respectively.
No specific details about the movie were announced, and a short teaser that showed little was revealed.
Super Mario Galaxy is a 2007 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii. The game featured the animated star Luma, who was seen in the first movie being depressed as ever. We’re also expecting to see Rosalina, who was introduced in the 2007 video game.
To celebrate the Mario 40th anniversary and the announcement of the movie, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 2.
