Meta has unveiled a new pair of Oakley smart glasses, the Oakley Meta Vanguard, at Meta Connect 2025 in Menlo Park, California.
Building off the first pair of HSTN AI glasses that the companies introduced earlier this year, the Oakley Meta Vanguard has been built from the ground up for high-intensity sports. These “Performance AI” glasses have been designed to give athletes a competitive edge thanks to an action-ready camera, integration with fitness apps like Garmin and Strava, immersive audio for workouts and more.
First, they have a comfortable, performance-focused design that uses Oakley’s Three-Point Fit system with replaceable nosepads. They’ve also been optimized for wearing with cycling helmets and hats and are Meta’s most water-resistant frames to date, with an IP67 dust and water resistance rating.
Meanwhile, the built-in camera can capture video at up to 3K resolution and has a centred
12-megapixel camera with a 122-degree wide-angle lens. It also has new capture modes like slow motion, hyperlapse, and adjustable video stabilization.
In terms of audio, the open-ear speakers are the most powerful yet for Meta glasses, coming in at six decibels louder than Oakley Meta HSTN. Meta also says they can withstand 30mph (48 km/h) of wind, making them suited for biking, on top of sporting a five-microphone array to reduce wind noise during calls, messaging or Meta AI voice commands.
And speaking of Meta AI, those with compatible Garmin devices can ask the virtual assistant for real-time stats, like checking their heart rate or a general performance check-in.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard will launch on October 21 for $679. You can pre-order now online from Meta or Oakley.
In other Meta Connect news, the second-gen Ray-Ban Meta glasses were revealed and are now available in Canada. The Meta Ray-Ban Display was also announced.
