Google is bringing social media to Discover in the coming weeks. Trying to make Discover an all in one place for your information.
The Discover feed will have updates from creators and publishers across the web, such as X, Instagram and YouTube Shorts with more platforms to come. Google said it did some research and found out that people enjoyed seeing a mix of content including videos and social posts. This is rolling out over the next weeks, to users globally in English to start.
Google is also adding the ability to better tailor the Discover feed with content from your favourite publishers. Starting today, users will be able to “follow” a creator or publisher on Discover to see more of their content. The preview will include articles, YouTube videos and posts from social media channels before following.
The company also recently added a way to choosed prefered news sources in Top Stories, so you’ll see these publishers more in Discover.
Currently, my Discover feed has the ‘follow’ button, but I’m unable to preview their content. It looks like it might be a server-side update. This is also launching globally in English to start.
