Meta is injecting a lot of AI tools into the Facebook dating platform, and the new tools seem like they’re going to have varying degrees of success.
The first new feature is called ‘dating assistant’ and it allows you to search for specific types of people in hopes of matching with them. One of the examples in Meta’s press release is “Find me a Brooklyn girl in tech.” Ideally, this should make it easier for people to find others whom they actually want to date.
Meta says this feature is rolling out to users in Canada and the U.S. slowly, so don’t be alarmed if you update your app and still don’t see it.
The next feature is called ‘Meet Cute,’ and it automatically matches you with people based on both of your personal matching algorithms. So if you start seeing some new matches added every week, that’s where they’re coming from. Facebook says it may update the frequency of Meet Cute matches.
Overall, Facebook is hoping that these new features will help address the stress fatigue that people sometimes experience during online dating.
