PlayStation has announced that its next State of Play presentation will be held on Wednesday, September 24 at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT.
The stream will run for over 35 minutes and feature reveals from first- and third-party developers, including nearly five minutes of footage of Saros, a 2026 action game from PlayStation-owned Returnal studio Housemarque. As always, the State of Play will be streamed live on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
Historically, PlayStation has held a big State of Play or “Showcase” presentation in September to reveal more about games in that calendar year, as well as what’s coming in the next. This year, rumours have indicated that we’ll finally get an update on Marvel’s Wolverine from Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac, which was announced way back in September 2021 but has since gone dark. (Work-in-progress footage of the game leaked in late 2023 as part of a cyberattack on the developer.)
Other games rumoured to be featured in the State of Play include Bungie’s Marathon, S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero and a Metroidvania God of War spin-off focused on protagonist Kratos’ brother, Deimos (who was featured in the PSP game Ghost of Sparta). Tokyo Game Show is also running this week, leading to some rumours that we’ll get an update on Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem during the State of Play. In particular, a credible Resident Evil leaker has teased that we may finally get a reveal of fan-favourite Resident Evil character Leon in Requiem at either the State of Play or Tokyo Game Show.
