EB Games Canada has offered a glimpse at its plans for the next six months.
On Friday, the company posted a breakdown of what it has in store on social media, teasing many different initiatives.
First and foremost, the video games retailer teased that the world’s largest EB Games store will open later this year in the heart of Montreal. No further details were provided, although it encouraged people to share their “wildest predictions” for what will be inside of it.
On top of that, the store is promising:
- Exclusive toys and collectibles
- An expansion of the trade-in program to include trading cards, retro games and more
- Major fan events for trading card games (TCGs) and new video game activations, with exclusive perks for Edge loyalty program members in attendance
- New benefits for shopping online, including exclusive promos, guaranteed pre-order allocations and priority access to select products for loyalty members
- New displays and renovations for TCGs
“Big things are happening, and we’re just getting started,” says EB Games Canada.
This follows confirmation in July that the retailer would introduce a major tech overhaul to improve both its in-store and online shopping experiences. However, the company acknowledged that this was still a work-in-progress.
On the whole, 2025 has been a massive year for the retailer. In May, French-Canadian entrepreneur Stephan Tetrault, the co-owner of McFarlane Toys, acquired the brand from GameStop and renamed it to “EB Games Canada.” The Canadian stores had only just been rebranded to “GameStop Canada” in late 2021. In a subsequent interview with MobileSyrup, EB Games Canada president Jim Tyo said this new venture will allow the retailer to return to its Canadian roots.
