Air Canada has expanded the functionality of the baggage tracking feature in its mobile app.
Launched last week, the new “Bag Buddy” tool will show you who loaded your luggage. Now, the app will display both a picture and the name of the Air Canada worker. In the Tracking History section, you’ll also see the employee’s name beside each update.
Tom Stevens, Air Canada’s VP of customer experience and service operations, shared some images of Bag Buddy via LinkedIn.

In his LinkedIn post, Stevens said Air Canada has over 5,000 agents on the ramp and in baggage rooms across Canada who are often working behind-the-scenes. Therefore, the airline wants to showcase them to its customers. Hopefully, this will also help a bit with accountability should Air Canada lose your luggage.
There have been a lot of changes with Air Canada as of late, beyond the flight attendant strike. In August, the company outlined a major overhaul to how Aeroplan points will be earned in 2026. And last week, the company updated its iOS mobile app with upgraded Apple Wallet Boarding Passes for iOS 26 and Live Activities functionality.
