Last week, Microsoft jacked the price of Xbox Game Pass by as much as $11. The move was so unpopular that it led to huge spikes in searches for how to cancel the service, as well as the actual cancellation page experiencing issues.
If that wasn’t enough, we’re getting even more bad news related to Game Pass. In a statement to outlets like IGN, Microsoft confirmed that Game Pass no longer offers discounts on DLC. Previously, you could get 10 per cent off add-on content like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle‘s recently released The Order of Giants expansion or Call of Duty points. Fans soon noticed that this discount was no longer available, and Microsoft is now publicly commenting on that change.
Per the company, this reflects “all games and DLC purchases.” Going forward, Game Pass Ultimate and Premium members will earn 10 per cent and 5 five per cent, respectively, in Rewards points on purchases of select games and add-ons from the Game Pass library. The 20 per cent discount on Game Pass title purchases, meanwhile, will remain for Ultimate members.
While Microsoft did mention Rewards points changes last week, it didn’t explicitly mention that the discount was going away in favour of them. Ultimately, it’s just another issue that fans are having with the increasingly expensive service. As Lando Calrissian once said: “This deal is getting worse all the time.”
