TELUS LG Keybo2 Video Review

The LG Keybo2 is another messaging device that was recently launched by TELUS. This is an improvement from the original Keybo in both style and in features.

The overall look of the Keybo2 has a nice candybar style to it and also flips open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. On the outside you’ll notice that they keys are really big, have a good feel to them so you won’t get frustrated when using them or mistyping. The external screen is 1.56 inches and has a resolution of 160×96. Although it’s incredibly small it does have a few good features, such as getting to the applications you want faster, quick access to contacts or viewing your pics. In addition, on the front a directional pad have been provided in a silver/chrome colour that brings some much need style enhancements to it.

When you flip open the device you see a large 2.6 inch screen (original Keybo was only 2.4 inches). The resolution is 320×240 and comes through handy when using it for your text messages/e-mail/IM. For viewing pictures the screen was nice and the 3.0 megaixel camera really showed its value. However, for videos I found that the quality came up really pixelated and grainy. Although the audio portion was good, viewing vids on the Keybo2 screen could use some improvements.

The keyboard is nicely layed out. Four-row QWERTY keyboard with quick access to your favorites makes this simple to use. They keys feel good, in between a rubbery feel and a matte feel keys. On the right hand side of the keyboard you’ll see a directional pad (similar to the front of the device) with buttons also for the call answer/hangup, voice recorder and speakerphone. I still think these should be switched in placement on the device for a more intuitive use. There are also a couple soft keys that make using the Keybo2 easier. Overall the keyboard is well designed with the only thing really that they could have made bigger was the space bar.

In the video review we go over the messaging features: IM, e-mail, and text messages (Maximum number of characters is 1,000), Music player, pictures/video and web. Check it out here:
