Bell officially drops price of Palm Pre to $149.95

bell-palm-preIt’s been 53 days since Bell released the Palm Pre in Canada. There has been a tremendous amount of hype with this device and all its new features, especially the new webOS platform.

This was first available on August 27th for the following price plans: 3-year: $199.95; 2-year contract: $449.95 1-year contract: $549.95 and no contract for $599.95. Decent into prices and from what we heard the demand was high, even employees and exec could only buy it after a certain amount of time passed. Other retailers started to get in the game and began to drop their prices. Take Walmart for example. they reduced their prices the first weekend to a 3-year contract for $198.83; 2-year contract: $448.83; 1-year contract: $548.83 and 30-day: $598.83. Then Best Buy stepped up and reduced the Pre by 50 bucks to $149.99.

This weekend marks the first official time Bell has reduced the price of there signature device. It’s now available on a 3-year contract for $149.95. I’m sure this is the first of a few price drops coming for the Pre… especially with the new network HSPA launching in a couple weeks and the holidays fast approaching, I believe we might even see it for $99.95 soon.

$149 is a good price for a Smartphone that can do everything you ever wanted it to do . It’s no Pomegranate phone and cannot take video but it’s got one of the best touchscreens on the market, a growing app catalog and can run multiple applications at the same time.
