Rogers BlackBerry Curve 8520 Video Review

rogers8520-official

The latest BlackBerry to hit the Canadian market it the Curve 8520. If you’re looking to get your hands on an economical device that will have reliable e-mail/contacts/calendar this might be a good choice.

There are some advantages to this Curve, such as the the new trackpad (no more trackball) and the cost – this is only $99.99 on a 3-year contract with Rogers.

So you may be asking why this is such an “economical” or “cost effective” Smartphone and it just launched? It could be this  entry level BlackBerry only comes with a 2-megapixel camera with video capabilities (no flash), only has Edge (no 3G) but has WiFi and is a Rogers Talkspot (UMA) compatible device, and the screen is a 2.4 inch QVGA display (resolution is 320×240) which is reduced in quality from previous BlackBerry devices… but most likely the real reason is the design. It’s all plastic with nothing really making it standout in any way.

If you’re not too concerned about surfing the web and want something reliable, this Curve 8520 should be something to consider. You can hold up to 16GB of memory with a microSD card and can play all the music you want. Sound quality is decent, but nothing to write home about. In addition, as all BlackBerry devices are truly about making the messaging experience – the 8520 can do sync all your e-mails, Instant Messenger (BlackBerry Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger) and your picture and text messages (max characters is 160). Check out the full review here:
