Rogers releases the HTC Jetstream, Canada’s first LTE tablet

The Rogers HTC Jetstream is available today and is Canada’s first LTE tablet. Because this makes use of their “Beyond 4G” network, speed is a major selling point. During our initial LTE test with the Jetstream we found download speeds hitting 20.24Mbps to 43.46Mbps, while upload speeds came in between  10.96Mbps and 20.43Mbps.  However, if you don’t live in one of Rogers current LTE coverage areas you can still make use of this tablet, but won’t reach the average LTE speeds and will fall back to their 4G HSPA+ network.

As for specs, the Jetstream runs Android 3.1, has a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800, a dual core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 7300 mAh battery, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera plus a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling and the HTC Sense UI. We’ll have a full review up shortly but you can take a quick look at this video from a few days ago. The price for the Jetstream is $799.99 outright and slightly dips $499.99 on a 3-year contract. To make LTE more attractive, Rogers released a $50/month 10GB data plan. In addition, the Jetstream can also use the HTC Scribe pen, but this will cost you an additional $79.99.
