Sony Ericsson LT26i (Nozomi) benchmarked, photoed next to Xperia Arc S

The Sony Ericsson LT26i codenamed Nozomi is coming. We know that much. But how it will perform is a different story.

The fine folks at ITProPortal are reporting that the 1.5Ghz MSM8660 dual-core processor from Qualcomm provides pretty mid-range performance on that gorgeous 1280 x 720 screen, though it will certainly at least double performance over existing Xperia devices. It also has 1GB RAM and 8GB storage, with no optional microSD, so we’re hoping that number is false.

In terms of OS, the LT26i, which we’re dubbing Xperia HD, is sporting Android 2.3.7 but will be upgraded to Android 4.0 in March or April this year.

Benchmarks seem fairly standard for the dual-core chipset: Quadrant begets a 2219, similar to results we saw from the HTC EVO 3D. Though the specs themselves may seem to underwhelm, we’ve found Sony Ericsson’s devices to be among the most consistently high-performing of all the manufacturers, and to date not a single one has had even a dual-core processor.

Though the Xperia HD is a bit taller than the Arc S, it is squared off and thinner, with a nice even symmetry that was missing from previous Sony Ericsson devices. We’re looking forward to trying this out when it’s announced next week at CES!

Check out some more photos after the break.
