eBay Canada: 45% of the 1,005 Canadians we surveyed will shop via mobile or online this holiday season

It’s that time of year again. Holiday surveys. eBay Canada has come out with some early stats of holiday shoppers, revealing that most people want convenience and to avoid long lines this year. Their November 9th survey of 1,005 Canadians is not too much of a shocker, but digging through the numbers shows that 45% will shop via their mobile device or online this year. eBay also notes that “30% of Canadians have already browsed or made purchases via their mobile devices,” this coming holiday season will see an average of 11 hours shopping and spending about $586 on buying 9 gifts for people – so just less than $55/person.

There’s no other hard stats on mobile devices – smartphones or tablets – but there’s currently 1.5 million consumer electronics listed on eBay Canada. Andrea Stairs of eBay Canada said “Canadians, like shoppers around the world, are increasingly looking to their mobile devices to solve their holiday dilemmas. In the past two years, we’ve seen the value of eBay mobile transactions increase from $2 billion to $10 billion globally.”

The eBay app is available for iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices.
