RIM is one step closer to their launch of BlackBerry 10 – their new “mobile computing platform.” The official unveiling will happen on January 30th, 2013, but today it’s all gold baby! This is the day that RIM has released the BlackBerry 10 Gold SDK… meaning the thousands of developers can tweak, test, plus submit their app to the BlackBerry World. This “Gold” SDK is the BlackBerry 10 experience customers can expect when the BlackBerry 10 OS and smartphones are officially available.
RIM is bringing some reputable apps to BlackBerry 10, notedly Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Fox Sports, Picstory, Viki Video, a bunch of gaming titles, plus “2,300 full-content digital newspapers and magazines in a highly engaging and immersive reading experience with just one subscription.”
Alec Saunders, RIM’s VP of Developer Relations, stated that “We have been actively engaged with developers from around the world for many months and as we near the final weeks toward the launch of BlackBerry 10, the growing dedication and commitment we see from our developer community is truly outstanding. The focus we have had on building a true developer ecosystem and community is clearly working.”
