Update: Rumour du jour has a 6.3-inch Galaxy Note III coming in 2013

The Galaxy Note had a 5.3-inch display and Samsung declared this device, along with its S-Pen stylus, created “a new category product.” This Android was dubbed as the “phablet” as it was a cross between a smartphone and a tablet. Samsung sold millions and quickly followed it up with the Note II, a bigger and more powerful device that sported a 5.5-inch display. Now, according to an overseas report in the Korea Times, “the world’s biggest technology company has been developing the Galaxy Note III with a 6.3-inch screen using an OLED display.”

Yes, a massive 6.3-inch display. At that scale is really surpasses the “phablet” name and is simply a tablet. 6.3-inch display would be a challenge to put in your jeans, but could fit very well in your suit pocket. Hopefully the rumour is false and Samsung keeps the Galaxy Note around the 5.5-inch mark and just improves its features.

Update: Well this is getting interesting. According to a report in The Verge, their Samsung sources say “At some point in the next year, and it could be very late in the year, we might fill in the largest gap in our screen size lineup.” So there might be a 6-incher on the horizon, which is a surprise.
