Rowi, Windows Phone’s best Twitter app, updated for Windows Phone 8

Windows Phone may not boast the same number of quality apps as iOS and Android, but the good ones are really, really good.

Rowi is one of them. Not only is it a feature-filled, premiere Twitter client, but it stands as one of the flagship apps on the platform. With today’s update, which is optimized for Windows Phone 8, the app loads more quickly, scrolls more smoothly and generally acts with a sense of purpose yet unseen on Windows Phone 8. This is the flagship Windows Phone 8 app because it showcases the platform’s biggest differences over its predecessor: speed, power and versatility.

While the feature list itself is not huge — users can now expand the live tile to span the entire length of the screen — it is in the little things that make the app so good. Bug fixes, yes; voice command, sure. But if you’re a Twitter user, there is practically no other choice on the platform. This is Windows Phone’s Tweetbot, and outlines just what is possible with Microsoft’s mobile OS.

The free version gives you every feature but push notifications, and shows an ad, but with the premium version selling for $1.49 for a limited time, if you have a Windows Phone and use Twitter, even a little bit, this app is worth your small Tim Horton’s.
