WIND Mobile offers a $50 service credit to Nexus 4 owners with new account activations

WIND Mobile has always been a shrewd observer of the phone industry. Like its T-Mobile cousin promoting use of the iPhone on its burgeoning PCS network, so too has WIND seen the light and is encouraging users of the Nexus 4 to join the fold.

To this end, WIND is offering a $50 credit when a user signs up for a prepaid or post-paid plan with either the  Unlimited Wish 40 or Unlimited Wish 25 plan “during the campaign period and you must provide your own unlocked AWS (1700/2100) compatible phone at the time of activation.” While the Nexus 4 is specifically mentioned in the promotion, it actually applies to any unlocked AWS-compatible phone that WIND doesn’t sell.

The credit will be applied within 30 days of the end of your first month of service in a single $50 sum, which is a nice change from the piecemeal credits usually attached to these types of promotions.

WIND knows it has a good thing here: the Nexus 4 is the hottest device of the year, but it doesn’t officially support LTE. That means that, for the most part, WIND is on equal footing with the incumbent carriers when it comes to attracting customers with the Nexus 4. The new entrant has been selling the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II for a while now, but the Nexus 4, with its Google-delivered updates, is in a league of its own.

What do you think? Are you more likely to join WIND with this promotion? You’re essentially getting one month for free.
