Bell planning to launch 3 rugged Sonim push-to-talk devices this year

Bell’s PTT (push-to-talk) network has been active since last April and they’ve slowly been bulking up their device lineup. So far customers can choose the Sonim XP5520 BOLT, BlackBerry Bold 9900, BlackBerry Curve 9360, Samsung Galaxy SII, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Rugby LTE and the Samsung Rugby III.

Unfortunately there’s no word on how many of Bell’s 7,427,482 subscribers are PTT customers, but more devices are coming. According to an internal doc we received it shows Bell and Sonim are getting really serious about PTT and planning to release 3 rugged devices this year.

We should see the Sonim XP1520 Bolt SL to be available in June as a “Value” device, currently priced at $99. We’ll then see a “High End” XP5560 Bolt 2 come to market for $229, followed by the “Premium” XP5560 Bolt 2IS for $599 by the end of the year.

We’ll have more info about the specifics of these device launches for you soon.
