Rovio Accounts launches to synchronize game data between platforms

If you’re an avid player of Rovio games, namely Angry Birds, Bad Piggies, The Croods and others, and tend to play them on multiple devices, a new feature rolling out today will come in handy.

The company is debuting Rovio Accounts, a synchronization mechanism to ensure that level progress is kept stable across operating systems. While the feature has only rolled out globally to players of The Croods movie tie-in game, it will begin taking shape over the next few weeks and months across the world on all the company’s franchises.

All you’ll need to do is, when you’re playing a Accounts-approved game, sign in with your email address and password and the latest save state from your iOS game will be magically transported to your Android tablet, for instance. Since Angry Birds and its many sequels have been ported to almost any OS you can think of, this prevents users from having to start all over again when transitioning from one phone, tablet or desktop operating system to another.
