15 million Canadians now access Facebook from their mobile device every month

Facebook mobile

Facebook recently celebrated its 10th birthday and the company declared Q4 revenues of $2.59 billion. Canadians have always been heavy Facebook users and last month Facebook announced that 19 million Canadians use Facebook every month, with 14 million accessing the site each day.

New stats were released today by the massive social network. In an email to us it states that “Canadians flock to their mobile devices” to check Facebook. Between August 2013 and February 2014, the number of Canadians using Facebook on their mobile device jumped from 13 to 15 million per month (15% increase), and the number who are doing so on a daily basis jumped from 9.4 to 10 million (6% increase). We reached out to Facebook reps and they indicated that a mobile device represents both a smartphone and a tablet.

These stats were released to potentially sway advertisers to shift their budgets over to Facebook and not into TV. Facebook states they are seeing brands shift the “marketing landscape” and “waking up to the creative and commercial opportunities of storytelling on Facebook.”
