Video shows early look of Windows Phone 8.1 Action Center… in action

The Windows Phone 8.1 leaks have been steady ahead of a possible reveal at BUILD in April. First came news of a Spartan-worthy voice assistant similar to Siri, followed by an SDK that revealed VPN support and tighter integration with Windows RT. We even got a sneak peek of a swipe enabled keyboard yesterday.

If there’s one feature, however, that entices Windows Phone users, it’s the potential of a robust notification center. A new video released today demonstrates the notification center in action, as part of what Microsoft is calling the Action Center. By swiping down from the top of the screen, users will be able to access the Action Center, which houses the notification centre and four modifiable quick actions. You can see the full video after the jump.

While Windows Phone has long suffered from lacking these features compared to Android and iOS, it seems as though Microsoft has put the development time to good use. Users will be able to select from a myriad of quick action options for the Action Center, including Bluetooth, Brightness, Camera, Flight Mode, Internet Sharing, Location, Project my Screen, and Rotation Lock. Windows Phone apps will also be able to manage notifications in the notification center, allowing them to add, modify, or delete existing notifications.

The video poster notes that the Windows Phone 8.1 build they used for the video is a few weeks old, so perhaps more goodies await the official unveiling in April.
