Transit App 2.0 for Android adds real-time vehicle locations, offline mode and more

A long-time favourite on iOS, Transit App made the transition to Android last year with aplomb. But the Montreal-based company hasn’t been able to keep the two versions at feature parity, until now.

Transit App 2.0 for Android apps real-time vehicle locations for the districts that support the feature — in Canada, this includes most of the big cities like Toronto, York Region, Montreal, Vancouver, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. This allows users to follow the approach of their bus, streetcar and, in some cases, subway, as they move.

The app also stores schedules and route maps for a user’s default location, so even if you don’t have an internet connection it’s now possible to check the theoretically arrival time of the next bus or streetcar.

Transit App has also been overhauled behind the scenes to make it quicker to check the departure times of more routes at once; it also now tells the user when the last streetcar or bus left, in addition to the two upcoming departures.
