Apple’s Beats acquisition might not be finalized until next week

It would be an understatement to say that most of the tech industry was shocked by Apple’s reported $3.2 billion acquisition of Dr. Dre/Jimmy Iovine run Beats Electronics, despite the longstanding cultural reasons why Apple might do so.

Re/code is reporting that Dr. Dre might have to wait a little longer to become the first billionaire rapper, however. According to sources familiar with the transaction, the deal may not be finalized until next week despite expectations of a swift completion. Little information was given as to the reason for the delay, although it’s likely due to nitty gritty legal issues than either of the two companies getting cold feet. There should be no issues with Dre or Iovine being available for at least a small public appearance at WWDC in June.
