Cyanogen hires former Facebook and Electronic Arts’s head of mobile product marketing

Cyanogen Inc. is making some new hires this week, snagging a couple of high-level people from Facebook and Electronic Arts.

Vivian Lee, senior director of mobile product marketing at Electronic Arts, will join Cyanogen as VP of marketing, a role that previously didn’t exist at the company. The company is also hiring Sid Murlidhar as Head of Ecosystems. Murlidhar lists his most recent position as Produce Advisor for Refresh Inc., but he previously spent four years at Facebook in the Mobile Products division and was a senior product manager at Motorola before that.

These are not extremely high profile hires, but they do demonstrate the growth that’s going on inside Cyanogen. According to Recode, Murlidhar’s job will be to work with third parties to incorporate their own services into Cyanogen. Right now the company’s list of partners is limited to Oppo and OnePlus.

Hopefully the addition of someone like Lee will help Cyanogen Inc to market their products effectively. As we discussed in this week’s Tête-à-Tête, marketing is something even the bigger names screw up. Speaking to Recode, CEO Kirt McMaster pointed to the recent OnePlus Ladies First contest debacle as one of the reasons they feel the company could benefit from having some female leadership, as well as a dedicated marketing professional at the company.
