Samsung rumoured to be launching round smartwatch of its own

Moto 360

Motorola’s Moto 360 (pictured above) is probably the most anticipated smartwatch of the year. When Google announced Android Wear earlier this year, the Moto 360 was immediately labeled the most attractive smartwatch around, even though it wasn’t even available yet. Motorola unveiled the Moto 360 in mid-March and now, six months later, the company is finally almost ready to launch the first round smartwatch. Unfortunately, so is everyone else.

This past weekend, we got wind of LG’s plans to launch a round watch at IFA. Now it looks like Samsung has one, too. Or it will have one. SamMobile reports that the round watch is still in development but is an answer to the Moto 360. It doesn’t sound like it will be ready for an IFA debut (though Samsung will have wearables at the show). There’s also a good chance this device will be Tizen-based, which means it won’t be compatible with any Android applications.

SamMobile’s source also revealed that Samsung will announce the Gear VR virtual reality headset as well as a SIM-enabled Gear alongside the Note 4 at IFA next month.
