BlackBerry announced that its social engagement platform BBM Channels service is now compatible with social media management dashboard Hootsuite. Hootsuite users can now manage BBM Channels from within Hootsuite.
BBM Channel owners can post messages and pictures as well as respond to posts from the Hootsuite dashboard. The dashboard also offers real-time analytics on users’ activity. BBM Channels integration will be available to Hootsuite Free, Pro, and Enterprise users.
“With the undeniable popularity of messaging apps, brands are looking for ways to join the conversation,” said Greg Gunn, VP at Vancouver-based Hootsuite. “Our collaboration with BlackBerry on the BBM Channels App will empower users to leverage social strategies in real-time across multiple platforms, straight from the Hootsuite dashboard.”
The news comes a little less than a year after BBM Channels dropped its beta tag – it launched on BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS in November of last year. There are no details listed as to how many people are using BBM Channels, but BlackBerry notes that “there are over 900,000 Channels, about everything under the sun: sports teams, gaming communities, magazines that promote content, retailers offering deals, and lots more.”
