VLC is coming to Windows Phone next week

Windows Phone users, rejoice! VLC is on its way to your phone and should be available for download soon.

VLC has been available on Android and iOS for quite some time (though the iOS version has apparently been pulled from the App Store while the team prepares a build for iOS 8). Soon, Windows Phone 8 users will be able to download the free, open-source media player.

VLC developer Thomas Nigro tweeted earlier this month that VLC was finally working on ARM devices including the Surface RT and Windows Phone. This morning, just 10 days later, Nigro confirmed that the team was “REALLY in the last steps in the making of the VLC for Windows Phone release,” and that it would be ready next week.

VideoLAN is not planning a private beta for this version of VLC. It will be generally available from launch.
